First term of registration 10 Years
Counting from Notice of Acceptance/Grant Date
or from Registration Date
Subsequent terms 10 Years

Effective date of this rule 1 Jan 2009
Comments, exceptions and qualifications Please note prior to 2009, the 10 year renewal term after the first term ran from the date of the resolution granting renewal, not the expiration date. Therefore, if the mark registered or renewed prior to 2009, enter the last granting date in the Notice of Allowance/Grant Date field. For marks registered after 2009, the 10 year term counts from the registration date. Do not enter the Grant Date in these later marks.
